Box Score STEPHENVILLE – Saturday's win at Wisdom Gym wasn't just an ordinary victory for the No. 19 Tarleton TexAnns.

In addition to being win No. 10 on the season, it was also win No. 1 in Lone Star Conference action, win No. 7 in a row for the TexAnns and win No. 200 in his 11-year Tarleton career for head coach Ronnie Hearne.

Hearne, who is in his 11
th season with the team, has amassed a Tarleton coaching record of 200-99 – which is good for a winning percentage of .669. The milestone win also comes on the two-year anniversary of his 1000
th all-time coaching victory – which happened on Jan. 4, 2012 at Eastern New Mexico.

At halftime, Tarleton was holding on to a slim 36-27 lead before opening the fresh half on a 28-10 run.

The TexAnns pushed their lead to as many as 27 with 8:34 left in the game before the Pioneers answered with a 22-4 run over the next six minutes to bring the game back to single digits at 76-67 with just 2:29 to play.

Kathy Thomas ended the run and quickly put the TexAnns back up by 11 with a layup at 1:49. The teams traded a pair of free throws to keep it an 11-point game with a minute to play.

After Texas Woman's failed to convert on their offensive possession, Kathy Thomas dropped a bounce pass in the paint to Wright for a wide-open layup at the end of the shot clock with 41 seconds left. Tarleton added six free throws down the stretch to seal the game.

Tarleton fell behind from the get-go as the Pioneers sank the first shot of the game before a
Kiara Wright layup got the TexAnns on the board.

The two teams played a tight contest with Texas Woman's leading 23-21 at the 4:55 mark of the first half. Thomas hit a layup to start a 15-4 Tarleton run over the final 4:55 of the opening half to send Tarleton into the half with their lead.

For the game, Tarleton shot 51-percent from the floor and held the Pioneers to just 35-percent. The TexAnns were 42-percent from downtown and 74-percent from the charity stripe.

Wright, the LSC's leader in scoring and rebounding, led the way with 25 points and 11 rebounds while
Brianna Bledsoe added 18 and Thomas scored 12.

The TexAnns had three players score six points off the bench –
Raven McGrath,
Keyra Johnson and
Erin Sims – and three players score four points –
Travanti Downes,
Karli Moore and
Shanae Lowrance.
Morgan Ashmore rounded out the scoring with two points.

This win moves Tarleton to 26-10 all-time against the Pioneers and 17-2 against them in Stephenville. This is also the fifth straight season in which Tarleton has won its LSC opener.

The TexAnns will return to action Wednesday night at 6 p.m. when they host Angelo State University in Wisdom Gym.
