THE GAME
Tarleton State looks to rebound from a heartbreaking loss to in-region rival St. Mary's last Saturday when they host NAIA foe Texas Wesleyan for the first game of a Tarleton Basketball doubleheader in Wisdom Gym Saturday night at 5 p.m.

THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Keltin Wiens, will serve as the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.

THE OPPONENT
Texas Wesleyan enters Saturday's game having won five of its last six games with the only loss coming in a 47-60 defeat to Midwestern State Tuesday night. The Lady Rams rebounded from Tuesday's loss with an 88-75 win over Oklahoma Christian Thursday night led by 20-point efforts from Stacey Darnley and Katelynn Threats.

THE SERIES
Tarleton State and Texas Wesleyan have a rich history of competition, dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1979. The teams victories came and went over the first 11 years of the series before the Lady Rams put together a five-game winning streak from 1988-90. Tarleton answered right back with eight-straight wins from 1991-94 when the TexAnns exited NAIA for the NCAA. They resumed the series in 1997 when Tarleton won its ninth straight over Wesleyan before the Lady Rams won the next five from 98-01 when the series came to a halt once again. The series resumed once again in 2008 when Tarleton snapped the skid with a 93-43 blowout in Stephenville to start a streak of five straight wins in the series. The TexAnns hold the all-time lead 24-21 in 45 total games, includng a 16-8 record in Stephenville.

TARLETON vs NAIA
Since Tarleton moved up to the NCAA in 1994, the TexAnns have played 23 games against NAIA opponents and have a record of 18-5 against NAIA foes.

PRESEASON RANKINGS
Tarleton State was picked to finish third in the Lone Star Conference preseason rankings during the LSC's Online Basketball Media Day. The TexAnns received 180 total votes, which was behind Midwestern State (198) and West Texas A&M (227) and 27 points ahead of Texas Woman's (153).

TARLETON IN NATIONAL POLLS
The official USA Today/ESPN Division II National preseason rankings were released and Tarleton State was receiving votes. Only three Lone Star Conference schools were getting votes in the top 25. West Texas A&M is No. 1 in the nation while Midwestern State received 20 votes. Tarleton had eight. The TexAnns have been ranked in the national polls in 27 total weeks since making their debut in 2010. They reached their highest ranking of No. 14 last season.

TARLETON IN THE LSC
Tarleton State has developed into one of the premier basketball programs in the nation, as well as within the Lone Star Conference. In addition to being a perennial national power with five straight trips to the national playoffs, Tarleton has also become a premier team in the Lone Star Conference. The TexAnns earned their first league championship in 2012 and reached the finals of the LSC Championship Tournament for the second time in three years last season. Since joining the LSC as an NCAA institution in 1994, the TexAnns have a record of 162-138 against conference foes, including five seasons - four consecutive - of over 10 conference wins.

DEPTH DOWN LOW
The biggest question for the TexAnns entering the season was replacing All-American Kiara Wright in the paint, but the TexAnns down low proved they were up to the challenge over the last two games. Ikpeaku Iwobi posted her third career double-double in the season opener and followed up with a 10-point, eight-rebound effort against St. Mary's. The TexAnn Trio of Karli Moore, Breanna Fuller and Iwobi has totaled 67 points and grabbed 38 rebounds.

TEXANNS vs TEXAS WESLEYAN
Karli Moore, Raven McGrath and Kathy Thomas have had past success against Texas Wesleyan in their careers. Moore and McGrath has two career games under their belts and are averaging 9.5 and 8.5 points and 3.0 and 2.5 rebounds per game against the Lady Rams, respectively. Kathy Thomas also found success in her first career game against the Lady Rams last season with 12 points and four assists in Tarleton's 80-40 victory in Stephenville.

All-TOURNAMENT
Ikpeaku Iwobi and Kathy Thomas were named all-tournament for last weekend's TexAnn Tip-Off Classic.

MILESTONE WATCH
Morgan Ashmore is 11 assists away from 200 in her career (189).
Meagan O'Dell is 6 points away from 200 in her career (194).

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will hit the road for the first time this season following the Thanksgiving holiday as they head to Lubbock to take part in the Lubbock Christian Thanksgiving Classic, beginning Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the Lady Chaps.
