No. 8 Tarleton State hosts two-day, four-team tournament for 'Black Friday' Weekend

THE GAME
Tarleton State will put the cap on the Thanksgiving holiday with homestyle basketball action this weekend in Wisdom Gym when the No. 8 Texans host Pittsburg State and Northwest Nazarene for the Tarleton State Thanksgiving Classic and Black Friday Weekend Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
 
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans, Casey Hogan, will be back calling the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive.
 
THE OPPONENT: PSU
Pittsburg State will wrap up its Texas tour this weekend at Tarleton State in the Tarleton Thanksgiving Classic. They played West Texas A&M Wednesday and lost 72-63.
 
THE OPPONENT: NNU
Northwest Nazarene enters this weekend's tournament having lost three straight games, including a pair of nailbiters to Westminster and College of Idaho. The Crusader's primary starting rotation are all averaging over 11.0 points per game, led by Erik Kinney at 15.4 points per contest.
 
REISMAN'S PITT ROUTES
Lonn Reisman is a 1977 graduate of Pittsburg State, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Education.
 
THE SERIES: PSU
This is the third meeting between Tarleton State and Pittsburg State in Lonn Reisman's coaching tenure. The first meeting came in the NCAA South Central Regional semifinals in Commerce on March 13, 2005 when the Texans won 65-59 on their way to their first Elite Eight appearance. The teams met again in Stephenville when Pittsburg State came down for the 2011 Texan Tip-Off Classic in a 57-40 Tarleton win.
 
THE SERIES: NNU
This will be the first meeting between Tarleton State and Northwest Nazarene.
 
LOOKING TO START 4-0
Tarleton has improved to 3-0 for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons and will look to hit the 4-0 mark for the seventh time in the last 10 and the third time in the last five.
 
PRESEASON FAVORITES
Tarleton State was named the preseason favorites in the Lone Star Conference on Oct. 29 during the LSC's Online Basketball Media Day. The Texans received 156 total votes, edging Midwestern State by one (155) for the top honor in the preseason rankings.
 
TARLETON IN THE LSC
Tarleton State has developed into one of the premier basketball programs in the nation, as well as within the Lone Star Conference. Lonn Reisman is the only Texan coach to lead Tarleton through the LSC as an NCAA coach. He has amassed a record of 179-91 in Tarleton's 20 years as an NCAA conference member. Reisman and the Texans have won three LSC regular season championships, three LSC championship tournament title - including the last two - and has also won at least 10 conference games in four straight seasons.
 
TARLETON IN NATIONAL POLLS
After starting the season ranked No. 12 in the nation, Tarleton State moved up four spots to No. 8 in the latest edition of the polls after starting the season 3-0. This now marks the 19th consecutive week in which Tarleton has appeared in the national rankings after joining the top-25 on Nov. 19 last season.
 
NABC HISTORY
Of the 87 weeks in the NABC rankings, Tarleton has spent 53 of those weeks in the top 10, 36 in the top 5 and eight weeks at No. 1.
 
THE OTHER POLL
There is a new poll released in its first year of existence. The D2 Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, has a regional poll released every Monday, followed by a national poll every Tuesday. Each region has two representatives that comprise the regional poll. The Texans are No. 8 in the latest media-voted ranking.
 
TEXANS AT HOME
In Coach Reisman's 26 seasons at Tarleton State, the Texans have amassed a total record of 357-61 including a record of 139-13 with two undefeated home seasons since 2005.
 
BLACK FRIDAY WEEKEND
This weekend is also the first Black Friday weekend presented by Tarleton Athletics. In honor of the sales and giveaways around the country, Tarleton will also be giving things away to our fans in attendance. Every fan will receive a ticket along with their $2 admission. We will give away prizes at every media timeout of both Tarleton games this weekend, including an ottoman from Woods Furniture and a 32" TV from Gifford's Electronics.

Davene Carter is just four (4) points away from 500 in his career.
Mo Lee is two (2) points away from 250 and six (6) rebounds away from 100 in his two-year Tarleton career.
Michael Hardge is 12 assists away from 100 and three (3) points away from 250 in his Tarleton career.
Damion Clemons is two (2) points away from 350 in his career.
TaShawn Mabry is 25 points away from 400 points in his career.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will host Arlington Baptist Tuesday Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym on the back end of a doubleheader. It will be 'Toys 4 Kids' night at Tarleton and fans will receive free admission with the donation of an unwrapped gift.
