THE GAME
Tarleton State (28-2, 12-2 LSC) is in the midst of its sixth consecutive and 12th overall appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship. The Texans, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, will take on Midwestern State (23-7) in the semifinal round of the tournament this Sunday, March 16 at 6 p.m. (CST) at the Auraria Event Center in downtown Denver.

The Texans, who earned the Lone Star Conference's automatic bid with its win over MSU in the LSC Championship last Saturday, is the No. 2 seed, while MSU earned an at-large bid into the tournament and the No. 3 seed.

About Tarleton State
Tarleton defeated No. 7-seeded Texas A&M International in Saturday's opening round, 92-56. The Texans opened the game with a 10-0 run and later pushed its lead to 34-4 with 6:55 left to play in the first half. The Texans led by as many as 39 points en route to the 36-point victory.

Last week, the Texans won its second consecutive Lone Star Conference Tournament championship after downing Midwestern State 71-65 last Saturday at the Allen Event Center in Allen. Tarleton entered the regional championship with an overall record of 27-2 and regular-season co-champions of the LSC after going 12-2 in league play.

The MSU Series
Sunday's match-up will mark the 70th meeting between the two squads. MSU currently has a 44-25 advantage over the Texans, but Tarleton has won four of the past five meetings. Over the last 26 games, the series is all knotted up at 13-13. Tarleton and MSU will meet for the fourth time in one season for the third time in the last five seasons. Tarleton State took three of four from the Mustangs in 2010-11. The two teams have met at least three times in each of the last five seasons.

Tarleton in the NCAA Tournament
Making its 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Texans are now 15-10 all-time in NCAA Tournament games heading into Sunday's match-up. Tarleton is 8-3 all-time in first-round action in the South Central Regional and boasts an all-time mark of 8-4 when playing on a neutral court. It is Tarleton's sixth consecutive trip to the South Central Regional and the Texans have won three opening-round contests in its last six appearances. The Texans are a combined 3-3 against teams in this year's tournament field. Tarleton has two wins over St. Mary's in the tournament and a win over Texas A&M International.
