#25 Texans Fall 6-3 to #11 Rams in Series Finale

Box Score SAN ANGELO – The Tarleton State Texans closed out its four-game series with Angelo State, falling to the Rams 6-3 Sunday afternoon at Foster Field in San Angelo.

The Texans (13-7, 4-4 LSC) took an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly from Garrett Kilgore, and even after giving up a three-spot in the bottom of the first inning, Tarleton countered in the top of the third with a pair of runs to tie the game 3-3.

Kilgore later opened the top of the third inning being hit by a pitch and Alvaro Moreno later singled through the left side to put runners at first and second base. After Luke Slentz bunted both runners over, the two Texan players managed to score on a wild pitch from ASU's Dillon Becker (W, 3-1).

It would prove to be Baker's final mistake as he picked up the win after working 2.1 more innings of work before giving way to Graylon Brown in the sixth inning. Brown worked the final two innings to record his fourth save of the season.

Kyle Gottardy (L, 1-1) worked three full innings and was saddled with the loss after giving up a run to the Rams in the fourth inning. Matt Herrick, Ethan Lenz and Troyal Yosko all pitched in relief on the day as well.

The Rams would drive in a pair of insurance runs off of Lenz in the seventh inning and despite Tarleton getting eight players on base between the fifth and ninth innings, the Texans would not get another run home.

Thomas, Jared Musgrove and Evan Robinson led the Texans at the plate on Sunday with a pair of hits each, while Kilgore was the lone Texan to drive in a run.

The Rams improved to 16-5 overall with the win and following the 3-1 series-win, ASU is now 6-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Texans will remain on the road for its next series, closing out an eight-game road swing at Cameron next weekend, Mar. 14-16. The Texans and Aggies will open the four-game set on Friday at 2 p.m.
