SAN ANTONIO - The Tarleton State Texans, fresh off its three-game sweep of Angelo State this past weekend, will take a break from Lone Star Conference play to face the St. Mary's Rattlers this Tuesday, April 15. First pitch between the two teams is set for 6 p.m. at Dickson Stadium in San Antonio.
The Texans are 21-16 overall and take a four-game winning streak into the South Central Region battle, while the Rattlers head into the midweek affair 27-13 overall. St. Mary's is coming off a 10-2 loss to St. Edward's on Saturday in a series that SEU took two games to one.
The two teams met each other last year in San Antonio, with the then No. 5-ranked Rattlers coming away with a 4-1 defeat over the Texans. St. Mary's has won four straight against Tarleton, with the Texans' last win coming back on Feb. 8, 2011.
The Texans are now hitting .290 as a team following this weekend's offensive assault.
Jared Musgrove continues to lead the team with a batting average of .436, but
Alvaro Moreno follows with a clip of .348. Moreno leads the team 47 hits on the season and his 24 runs batted in are second on the team behind
Noel Nevarez, who tops the squad with 25 RBI.
Matt Herrick has a team-best 1.59 earned run averaged heading into Tuesday's game and
Garrett Kelly follows with an ERA of 2.05.
Robert Baker took over the team-lead in strikeouts following this weekend with 40 K's on the year.
