THE GAME
Tarleton State will continue its run through the Lone Star Conference schedule Saturday afternoon when the No. 10 Texans cross the Red River for a 4 p.m. contest against Cameron.
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans,
Casey Hogan, will be back calling the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
THE SERIES
Saturday marks the 34th all-time meeting between Tarleton State and Cameron since the Texans and Aggies became senior-college rivals in 1972. Cameron won three of the four meetings before
Lonn Reisman came to town. The series took a break over Reisman's first five seasons before they rekindled the rivalry in the 1993-94 season when Reisman earned his first win against the Aggies on Feb. 3, 1993. Cameron won four of the next five but a 67-59 win in Lawton on Jan. 25, 1997 started a run of Texan dominance all the way through Saturday's meeting. That January win started a 20-3 run for Tarleton in the series.
THE OPPONENT
After starting the season 4-4, Cameron thumped Bacone College 97-73 on Dec. 16 to begin a five-game winning streak. Over their streak, the Aggies held all opponents to under 72 points and topped 90 points three times including a 111-66 win against Dallas Christian. The streak was snapped with a one-point loss to West Texas A&M on Jan. 10 before losing to Texas A&M-Commerce in their last outing 53-86.
ABOUT AGGIE GYM
Built in 1957, Aggie Gym is home to the Cameron basketball and volleyball teams. The playing surface was completely refurbished in the summer of 2004 to incorporate Cameron's official logos while enhancing the quality of the surface for competition. Additional renovations were done in 2008 when the gym floor was completely replaced and heat/AC were added. A new lighting system was also installed. The facility is one of the oldest buildings on the Cameron campus and seats a capacity crowd of nearly 1,800.
TARLETON IN NATIONAL POLLS
After starting the season ranked No. 12 in the nation, Tarleton State has since moved up nine total spots to No. 3 over the first 12 games of the season. They have since slipped down to No. 10 in the latest poll. This now marks the 25th consecutive week in which Tarleton has appeared in the national rankings since joining the polls on Nov. 19 last season.
NABC HISTORY
Of the 93 weeks in the NABC rankings, Tarleton has spent 59 of those weeks in the top 10, 39 in the top 5 and eight weeks at No. 1.
RANKINGS BY THE MEDIA
The D2 Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA in its first year, has a regional poll released every Monday, followed by a national poll every Tuesday. Each region has two representatives that comprise the regional poll. The Texans are tied for No. 15 in the latest media-voted ranking.
REISMAN IN JANUARY
Since his debut season as the head coach of Tarleton State in 1988,
Lonn Reisman and the Texans have played 235 January games and amassed a record of 167-68 for a Janaury winning percentage of .719. He is 69-29 (.701) against teams who are not current LSC teams in January and 98-39 (.722) against current LSC rivals in the month of January under Reisman, including 7-2 when playing Cameron in the year's first month.
