Tarleton opens the 2015-16 season with a pair of home games for the Texan Tip-Off Classic

THE GAME
No. 2 Tarleton will open the 2015-16 season at home for the Texan Tip-Off Classic. The Texans play Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last season's NCAA Tournament second round. Tarleton take on Adams State on Saturday at 7 p.m.

THE OPPONENT: Colorado-Colorado Springs
The Mountain Lions are 1-2 on the season after playing three games in California. UCCS was picked to finish fifth in the RMAC after winning the conference last season.

THE OPPONENT: ADAMS STATE
The Grizzlies were picked eighth in the RMAC preseason poll and fifth in the Mountain Division. Head coach Russ Caton is in his first season. ASU defeated Northern New Mexico College 91-80 in an exhibition game.

THE SERIES: UCCS
This is the second all-time meeting between the two schools with Tarleton winning the first game 84-62 on March 15 last season in Stephenville in the second round of the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.

THE SERIES: ADAMS STATE
Tarleton and Adams State have played twice prior to this season with Tarleton winning both match-ups. The Texans and Grizzlies last played in 2008 with Tarleton winning 83-55 in Stephenville. The first meeting took place in 1994 in Durango, Colo. with Tarleton winning 62-56.

PRESEASON FAVORITES
Tarleton was named the preseason favorites in the Lone Star Conference on Oct. 28 during the LSC's Online Basketball Media Day. The Texans received 173 total votes and 19 first-place votes, edging Midwestern State (151, 3 first-place votes) for the top honor in the preseason rankings.

TARLETON IN NATIONAL POLLS
After returning nine lettermen and three starters from last year's 31-4 team that reached the NCAA Final Four, Tarleton is ranked No. 2 in the NABC Preseason Poll, No. 1 by The Sporting News, Basketball Times and HERO Sports, and No . 3 by The Division II Bulletin and D2Sida.

CHASING 600
Head Coach Lonn Reisman enters the season with 589 career wins in 27 seasons at Tarleton (610 overall). Reisman is fifth on the active NCAA Division II head coaches' win list.

REISMAN IN NOVEMBER
Reisman is 37-5 in November games since 2007 for a .881 winning percentage. The Texans have won 11 straight games in November.


TEXANS IN SEASON OPENERS
Tarleton is 24-3 in season openers under head coach Lonn Reisman and 24-1 in season openers in Stephenville. The Texans have won the last two season openers and 13 of the last 14.

THE CLASSIC
This is the 12th annual Texan Tip-Off Classic, continuing the tradition that began in 2004. Since the tournament began, Tarleton is 21-1 all-time in their home tournament including six straight Texan Tip-Off victories.
