STEPHENVILLE – Led by 17 points from Tournament MVP
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton swept the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic and improved to 2-0 with a 74-57 win over Texas A&M International at Wisdom Gym Saturday night.

Wipff was named the Most Outstanding Player of the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic after scoring 31 points on 12-23 shooting from the floor for a .522 shooting percentage, including 6-14 for a .429 percentage from downtown. She added six rebounds and three assists to lift Tarleton over Concordia-Irvine Friday and Texas A&M International Saturday.

Joining Wipff in taking home accolades from the weekend were
Meagan O'Dell and
Ikpeaku Iwobi, who were each named all-tournament for their efforts. Iwobi highlighted her weekend with her first double-double of the season Saturday night with 12 points and 12 boards while O'Dell scored 28 points in two games, including a career high 16 against Concordia-Irvine Friday night.

In Saturday's contest,
Raven McGrath got the Tarleton offense started with a layup 14 seconds into the game that started a quick 8-2 surge for the TexAnns over the opening 3:30. The Dustdevils brought it back to a 10-10 tie, but Iwobi's first three-pointer of the season sparked a 12-5 run to give Tarleton a 22-15 lead with 45 seconds left in the opening quarter.

Over the final possession of the first quarter and the opening 7:45 of the second quarter the Dustdevils made a 13-6 push to even things up at 28-28 before an O'Dell triple got the TexAnns rolling.

O'Dell three-pointer started a 9-4 surge to send Tarleton into halftime with a 37-32 lead and out of the break, Wipff kept things moving in the TexAnns' favor with a three of her own to open the half. Over the end of the second half from O'Dell's three ball and the first 5:12 of the third quarter, Tarleton went on a 26-6 run to lead by 20 with 14:48 left in the game.

The Dustdevils pulled within 11 in the final minute of the third quarter before Tarleton got three straight points on a
Travanti Downes free throw and an Iwobi layup to take a 59-45 lead into the final frame. The TexAnns cruised in the final quarter, never leading by less than 14 and stretching it to as many as 23.

Behind the combined 41 points from Wipff, Iwobi, and O'Dell, Tarleton got seven points from
Raven McGrath and five each from freshmen
Nia Jackson and
Catherine Okwilagwe.
Morgan Ashmore and
Tiara Tatum each poured in four points while Downes and
Averie Mack had three.
Shelby Mankins rounded out the scoring with two points.

The TexAnns will look to continue their winning ways Wednesday night with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Our Lady of the Lake in Wisdom Gym.
