THE GAME
Tarleton looks to get back in the win column Saturday night when the TexAnn Basketball team hosts Texas Wesleyan for a 5 p.m. match-up in Wisdom Gym.
 
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans, Casey Hogan, will substitute for Keltin Wiens. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Tarleton TexAnn Basketball team dropped its first game of the regular season Wednesday night with a 70-57 loss to the No. 7-ranked team in NAIA Our Lady of the Lake. Despite a 19-point performance from the defending LSC Offensive Player of the Week, Bailey Wipff, and the second straight double-double from Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton was held to just 32 percent for the game, which included a 28-percent mark from beyond the arc.
 
THE OPPONENT
Texas Wesleyan is coming off a last-second loss at the hands of Midwestern State in Wichita Falls. In a 55-55 game and time winding down, Midwestern State's McKenna Villegas connected on a mid-range jumper at the buzzer to defeat Wesleyan. Katelynn Threats led all players with23 points and 11 rebounds against the Mustangs.
 
THE SERIES
Tarleton owns the all-time record 25-21, dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1979. The teams were neck-and-neck in the series from 1979 to 1994, with Tarleton holding an 18-16 advantage in the series. When Tarleton made the transition to NCAA Division II, the Rams still continued to hold their own by winning five of the next six meetings, but Tarleton has since won six straight against Wesleyan entering Saturday.
 
DROPPIN' DIMES
Morgan Ashmore enters Saturday's game with 253 career assists, which currently has her at No. 12 on the all-time list. She is 29 assists away from taking over the No. 11 spot from Jenn Doroga (281) and 38 assists shy of jumping into the top 10 by passing Tina Proctor (290).
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Junior Ikpeaku Iwobi is currently the only
TexAnn to record a double-double in any game this season, having done so on 13 different occasions. She now has a double-double effort in each of the last two games. Her career best is three consecutive games with a double-double.
 
AUTOGRAPH NIGHT
It will be autograph night as the TexAnns will join the Texan Basketball team after the men's game to sign autographs for fans. Autograph cards will be provided to fans and the TexAnns will join the Texans after the men's game on the court.
 
MOVIN' UP THE ALL-TIME 3's LIST
With 12 three-pointers in the first three games, Meagan O'Dell has jumped Tiffanie Bowen (1997-00) for 15th all-time in long shots with 75 in her career. Next in line are Morgan Stehling (76) and Misty Wilson (77) in 14th and 13th place.
 
TARLETON vs NAIA
Since moving up to the NCAA in 1994, Tarleton has played 25 games against NAIA opponents and boast a record of 19-6 in those games.
 
WIPFF: PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After leading the TexAnns to a 2-0 start to the season, Bailey Wipff was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week. She was named the MVP of the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic after scoring 31 points in two games.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will hit the road for the first time this season Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. game in Laredo against Texas A&M International.
