No. 2 Texans aim for 4-0 start vs Bacone

THE GAME
The No. 2-ranked Texans have started the season 3-0 and will take on Bacone (1-5) on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.
 
THE BROADCAST
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans, Casey Hogan, will be back calling the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. Former Texan and current Harlem Globetrotter Davene Carter will join Hogan for the Color Commentary during the broadcast on Saturday. THE OPPONENT: BACONE
The Warriors are an NAIA school and come to Tarleton with a 1-5 record on the season. Bacone's lone win was against Philander Smith (Ark.) 78-64 after starting the season 0-5.
 
THE SERIES: BACONE
This is the first-ever match up between the two schools.
 
BANNER UNVEILING
Tarleton will unveil its 2014-15 NCAA Division II banner before tonight's game. Former players Davene Carter, Damion Clemons and Mercedes Lane are expected to be in attendance to help the Texans celebrate the historic run to Evansville, Indiana last season.
 
TARLETON VS NAIA
Tarleton is 51-11 all-time versus NAIA schools under Lonn Reisman. The Texans haven't lost to a NAIA school since 2012 against Southwest Assemblies of God.
 
LSC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
EJ Reed was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Texans to a 2-0 start and winning the Texan Tip-Off Most Outstanding Player award. Reed averaged 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game in the two wins. It's Reed's first-career LSC weekly award.
 
CHASING 600
Head Coach Lonn Reisman enters the game with 592 career wins in 28 seasons at Tarleton (613 overall). Reisman is fifth on the active NCAA Division II head coaches' win list.
 
REISMAN IN NOVEMBER
 Head coach Lonn Reisman is 40-5 in November games since 2007 for an .888 winning percentage. The Texans have won 14 straight games in November.
 
TEXANS AT HOME
In Coach Reisman's 28 seasons at Tarleton State, the Texans have amassed a total record of 377-62 including a record of 159-14 (.919) with two undefeated home seasons since 2005. The Texans went 20-1 at Wisdom Gym last season.
 
HARDGE'S 100TH
Senior Michael Hardge is appearing in his 100th career game for Tarleton. Hardge is 35-4 as a starter and 72-17 overall. Hardge has the best record for a starting point guard in Tarleton history during the senior college era.
 
ENTERING THE TOP 15
4-year Texan Michael Hardge, who has 208 career assists and 78 career steals, needs 18 assists and 14 steals to enter the top 15 on the all-time Tarleton basketball records list.

Tarleton has won the first three games of the season in 10 of the last 11 seasons. The Texans have started 4-0 12 times under Reisman, including 7 of the last 9 seasons, and are looking for a 4-0 start for the third straight year.

When seniors Michael Hardge and EJ Reed are in the starting lineup together, the Texans have a record of 22-2 (.916).
 
NON-CONFERENCE WIN STREAK
The Texans have won 32 straight non-conference home games. The last loss came on November 12, 2012 versus Southwestern Assemblies of God.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton played Delta State and defeated the Statesmen 80-71. Both teams were 2-0 at the time. EJ Reed set a career high in points with 27 and posted his second double-double of the season with 10 rebounds.
