THE GAMES
Tarleton State will take the field at Buffalo Sports Park this weekend for a four-game series with West Texas A&M, beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
 
THE BREAKDOWN
Tarleton will play a single game at 7 p.m. Friday night before entering a 4 p.m. doubleheader Saturday evening. The series will conclude, weather permitting, with a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
 
THE OPPONENT
West Texas A&M enters the weekend with an overall record of 14-10, including a 6-6 mark in Lone Star Conference action, including five of their last eight heading into Friday's game. The Buffs are currently fifth in the six-team Lone Star Conference with a .254 team batting average, led by Matt Cole's .316 average which is top-15 in the LSC. On the bump, WT is led by Brooks Trujillo with a 2.27 ERA in 39.2 innings of work this season.
 
THE SERIES
Tarleton owns the all-time series over West Texas A&M 56-39 entering this weekend's series in addition to having won 11 of the last 18 meetings. Over the last 10 games played in Canyon, dating back to 2011, the Texans boast an 8-2 record.
 
LSC's LEADING HITTER
Jonathan Schmitz is currently pacing the Lone Star Conference at the dish with the only above-.500 batting average in the league at .523. The Tarleton backstop has 23 hits and a .636 slugging percentage in 14 games this season.
 
HOW BURLY GOT HIS GROOVE BACK
After easing back into the starting rotation through the beginning of the season, senior pitcher Colton Burleson is currently boasting the third-best ERA in the Lone Star Conference at 1.69. The right-hander currently has a record of 3-0 and has allowed the second-fewest walks (4) in the LSC.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will return home next weekend to host Texas A&M-Kingsville for four games, beginning with a 3 p.m. single game on Friday, March 27.
