SAN ANGELO – Tarleton Baseball lost to Angelo State 6-0 on Friday night in Game 1 of a four-game series at Foster Field. The Texans drop to 14-16 overall and 7-12 in the Lone Star Conference.

Angelo put up three runs in the first inning that was highlighted by J.C. Snyder's solo home run.
Â
Matt Herrick started on the mound for the Texans and went six innings while allowing five runs, although only one run was earned. Herrick gave up four hits and struck out five to fall to 2-4 on the season.

After the three-run first, Herrick retired 10 straight Rams hitters including a stretch of four strikeouts in five at-bats.

The Texans managed only four hits in the loss to the Rams.

Dalton Weeks went 2-for-3—his fifth multi-hit game of the season—to lead the Tarleton offense.

Jonathan Schmitz and
Kevin Meredith each went 1-for-4 to round out the Texan offense.

Seth Hallmark and
Eythan Lenz combined to throw a scoreless seventh inning of relief.

For Angelo, Steve Naemark (7-1) tosses seven innings of two-hit ball and struck out six to earn the win.

Paxton De La Garza homered in the eighth for the Rams to pad the lead to 6-0.

Tarleton and Angelo will play a Saturday doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. and then close out the series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start.
