LAWTON, Okla. – TexAnn Softball ended Friday's doubleheader with Cameron on a dramatic come-from-behind win in the seventh inning to split the first two games of the four-game series. Tarleton goes to 21-17, 8-8 in the Lone Star Conference after the two games.

Game 1: Cameron 4, Tarleton 3

After Tarleton's doubleheader with Texas A&M-International got canceled on Wednesday due to weather, the TexAnns shifted their focus to Cameron as Lone Star Conference play resumed.

Both teams exchanged zeros on the scoreboard through the first three innings before
Katelyn Conlee's two-run blast to right center gave the TexAnns the game's first runs in the fourth.
Â
The home run was Conlee's team-leading seventh of the season. Conlee finished 1-for-3 on the afternoon.
Â
The Aggies responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run from Breezy McComas and three runs in the fifth to take the lead.

Freshman
Haley Freyman started in the circle for Tarleton and went the distance despite registering the loss. Freyman (14-9) limited the high-powered Cameron offense to only four runs, three runs below their average of 7.3 per game. Freyman had three strikeouts in the game, too.

Melody Mayse singled to lead off the sixth inning and later scored on a passed ball to cut the Aggies' lead to 4-3.

Mayse's run was her 39
th of the season, tying her with Kristin Williams (2004) for eighth on the Tarleton single-season runs record list.

Savannah Stech went 1-for-1 with a first-inning double, a walk in the fourth and a sacrifice bunt in the sixth that later allowed Mayse to score.

Game 2: Tarleton 7, Cameron 4
Â
The TexAnns trailed 4-3 heading into the seventh inning before erupting for four runs to win 7-4 in Game 2.

The top of the order stirred the momentum for Tarleton when
Melody Mayse singled to left with one out.
Savannah Stech followed by reaching on an infield error that advanced Mayse to third.
Katelyn Conlee walked to load the bases to set the stage for freshman catcher
Nyka Wood.
Â
On a 2-2 count, Wood doubled to left-center field to clear the bases and give Tarleton its first lead of the game, 6-4.
Â
Wood finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs.
Â
"To be honest, our day wasn't going great," Tarleton head coach
Julie Mata said. "But we stuck with routines, didn't lose our heads and we battled. We got it done in the seventh inning of game two to come through with a very valuable win against a really good team.

"It was another testament to the fact that we don't quit. It's so much fun coaching this team."

The TexAnns added the fourth run of the seventh when
Erika Menchaca reached base on a Cameron error that scored
Lauren Powers, who pinch ran for Wood.

Haley Freyman came on for Tarleton in the second inning to throw 5 2/3 innings in relief to earn her 15
th win of the season, moving her in a tie for ninth on the single-season wins list.
Â
Freyman also is tied for the conference lead in wins.
Â
After the TexAnns took a 7-4 lead in the seventh, Freyman retired the side in order in the bottom half, forcing Cameron into three ground outs to end the game.

Melody Mayse had her 15
th multi-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Mayse's three runs moved her into fifth on the single-season runs list with 42 on the year.

The TexAnns were able to capitalize on another Cameron error in the fifth that led to two runs.
Â
Tarleton had eight hits on the game from five different players. Conlee went 1-for-3 with an RBI;
Taylor Fitzgerald had a pinch-hit single in the sixth and Rebekah Allen went 1-for-4 to round out the TexAnn offense.

Tarleton and Cameron will close out the four-game series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
