STEPHENVILLE – The 2014 NCAA Division II football home attendance numbers were unveiled and the Tarleton State Texans ranked eighth in the country.
The Texans averaged 7,380 fans at Memorial Stadium for the three home games in 2014.
Since 2009, the Texans haven't ranked higher than 20
th in the nation in attendance and this marks Tarleton's best attendance since Memorial Stadium averaged 5,555 in 2007.
Tarleton State ranked first among all Lone Star Conference teams in attendance with Midwestern State (11
th), West Texas A&M (14
th), Texas A&M-Commerce (18
th) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (19
th) finishing in the top 20.
The Lone Star Conference ranked second among Division II conferences with an average of 5,973 fans per home game. The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference led the nation with 6,271.
