Box Score KINGSVILLE – Tarleton State baseball was defeated by No. 3 Angelo State 8-0 in the Lone Star Conference tournament semifinals at Nolan Ryan Field.

The Texans, the No. 4-ranked team in the tournament, will turn around and play No. 3 West Texas A&M at 6:50 p.m. in the elimination game. Angelo State advances to the championship game and will play the winner of Tarleton State and WT at noon on Saturday.

Angelo State's Blake Bass, a first-team All-LSC pitcher, threw eight shutout innings and struck out eight to improve to 10-2 on the year.

Tarleton had runners at second and third in the fifth and eighth inning and couldn't score against Bass, who entered today's game with a 2.40 ERA.

The Texans stranded nine runners on base.

Dalton Weeks went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Texans, his second consecutive two-hit game.

Colton Burleson started on the mound for Tarleton and threw two scoreless innings and gave up three hits while striking out one.

Trevor Renfro relieved Burleson and allowed five runs in two innings to fall to 4-3 on the season.

Angelo State scored two runs in the third and three in the fourth to pull away from Tarleton State.

The Rams had 17 hits in the game and were led by the LSC Player of the Year Paxton De La Garza's 4-for-5 performance.

Brett David hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning for Angelo State.

Cole Foster tossed the final five innings for the Texans and surrendered three runs and struck out two.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak in the Lone Star Conference tournament for Tarleton State dating back to 2014. The Texans are now 21-24 on the season.
