Â
LAST TIME OUT
Led by 17 points from
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton got back to its winning ways Wednesday night with a 56-51 victory over Eastern New Mexico in Wisdom Gym. Wipff shot .400 from the floor and went 7-8 at the charity stripe to go along with a pair of rebounds and one assist in the win. The win also marked the 18th consecutive victory for Tarleton against ENMU in the series.
Â
THE OPPONENT
West Texas A&M is in the driver's seat of the Lone Star Conference under first-year head coach Kristen Mattio. The Lady Buffs have been ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation this season, but fell in the poll after falling at Angelo State earlier this month. The Lady Buffs are led in scoring by a pair of double-digit scorers - Michaela Neuhaus (11.4) and Sasha Watson (10.7).
Â
THE SERIES
Tarleton trails the all-time series 8-33 since the inaugural meeting at NCAA rivals in 1995. Tarleton is 2-17 all-time in Canyon.
Â
DOWNTOWN TRIO
Since 2004, Tarleton has had just four players in its history connect on over 100 3-pointers in their careers (Katie Crawford, 230; Peyton Adamson, 151; D'Anna Dingler, 119;
Kathy Thomas, 100) but have three players on this season's roster closing in on triple digits.
Meagan O'Dell (91) is nine 3-pointers shy of moving into a four-way tie on the all-time 3-ball's made list in school history while
Raven McGrath (88) and
Bailey Wipff (84) are also closing in on the century mark.
Â
300 ASSISTS
Morgan Ashmore has become the 10th TexAnn in school history with at least 300 assists (302).
Â
RECORD-SETTING SEASON
In just her junior campaign,
Bailey Wipff is rewriting the history books. The Lubbock native just moved into the top-15 for 3-point shots made in a season (44) and is closing in on No. 13 D'Anna Dingler (45; 2008-09), No. 12 Katie Crawford (48; 2003-04), and No. 11 Brianna Bledsoe (51; 2013-14). She is also on pace for a top-5 season at the free throw line. Her percentage today (.886) would be the fourth highest in a season behind two from Peyton Adamson (2011-13) and Katie Crawford (2005-06).
Â
OVER THE LAST FIVE GAMES
•Â
Breanna Fuller is the team's top shooter from the floor at .484 on 15-31 shooting. She is averaging 7.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over that stretch.
•Â
Morgan Ashmore is leading the team in 3-point shooting percentage at .417 on 5-12 shooting, but
Bailey Wipff is shooting 14-35 at a .400 clip over that span.
•Â
Ikpeaku Iwobi and
Breanna Fuller have combined for 60 rebounds in the last five games, which accounts for 34-percent of the team's total rebounding efforts.
Â
