STEPHENVILLE – Career-high scoring efforts from
Bailey Wipff and
Meagan O'Dell powered Tarleton to its first Lone Star Conference victory of the season Wednesday night in a 94-65 win over Angelo State in Wisdom Gym.

Wipff, who is currently averaging 20.0 points per game through the first three Lone Star Conference games this season, poured in 22 points on 9-11 shooting from the floor, including 3-4 from beyond the arc. This is the second 20-point game of the season for the Lubbock product and the third in her career at Tarleton.

O'Dell wasn't far behind in the scoring column as the senior from Tuscola went for 21 points – her first career 20-point performance – on 8-12 shooting from the floor and a 4-7 clip from downtown.
Averie Mack and
Ikpeaku Iwobi also cracked double figures with 10 points each, while
Raven McGrath and
Morgan Ashmore paced the offense with seven assists each.

Wipff got the scoring started with a three-ball off a dish from Ashmore to spark a 7-2 Tarleton run out of the gate, which ultimately turned into a 22-14 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

Tarleton continued to pour on the points with 27 points in the second quarter, which was highlighted with a 15-7 run from the six-minute mark down to the final minute to extend the TexAnn lead to 49-31. Angelo scored the last two points of the half, but Tarleton still took a 49-33 lead into halftime.

After a tight third quarter that Tarleton won 21-20 to maintain its sizeable lead, the TexAnns put the game away by outscoring the Rambelles 21-20 over the final 8:14 of the game.

The TexAnns shot a season-high .577 from the field on 41-71 shooting, which was highlighted by a .625 clip in the second half on 20-32 shooting. Tarleton added a .476 mark from beyond the arc on 10-21 shooting and only went to the free throw line four times in the game (2-4). Meanwhile, Angelo State was 17-20 at the charity stripe.

Tarleton also dished out a season-high 28 assists, including 14 from McGrath and Ashmore. O'Dell and Wipff added three dimes each. The TexAnns also won the battle of the boards 40-36, led by an eight-rebound effort from
Ikpeaku Iwobi.
