Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

TexAnns dominate Texas Woman's with Saturday sweep

DENTON – TexAnn Volleyball snapped a two-game skid with a convincing sweep on the road against Texas Woman's on Saturday.

Tarleton (18-4, 10-3) won all three sets 25-17 for its 13th sweep of the season. The TexAnns had a .360 hitting percentage during the game and limited TWU to a .175 clip. Tarleton also only committed nine errors in the game, which is the third time this season they've had less than 10 errors.

The TexAnns built a 14-9 lead over the Pioneers in the opening set on back to back kills from Elizabeth Muliaga and Autumn Taylor. Hannah McManus' kill gave Tarleton its biggest lead of the set at 19-13 but TWU went on a 4-0 run to force a Tarleton timeout when the lead was cut to 19-17. Head coach Mary Schindler's timeout worked to perfection as the TexAnns closed the set on a 6-0 run that featured four kills from Hailey Roberts.

In the second set, the two teams split the first 24 points of the set before Tarleton went on another 6-0 stretch to pull away from the Pioneers with a 17-12 advantage. Leading 20-16, Chandler Gow's kill was the start of four straight points for the TexAnns behind an ace from Rebecca Schlorff and kills form McManus and Jordyn Keamo. McManus delivered the final blow of the second set on an assists from Keamo.

Looking to close things out in three sets, Tarleton jumped ahead 10-6 on a pair of kills from McManus and Muliaga. TWU would cut the TexAnn lead to 15-12 but kills from Abby Mackey and McManus followed by Michaela Rodriguez's ace padded the Tarleton lead to 21-14. The TexAnns closed the game on a 4-1 run with Muliaga capping off a career game with her 10th kill to end the match.

Roberts posted a game-high 12 kills and added 10 digs for her 17th double-double of the season. Muliaga had her first double-digit kill game of the season while hitting at a .471 percentage. Autumn Taylor had eight kills and Jordyn Keamo posted a career-high seven kills along with 37 assists and a game-high 15 digs to just narrowly miss a triple-double.

Defensively, four TexAnns recorded double-digit digs with Adrianna Knutson's 11 and Michaela Rodriguez's 10 to join Roberts and Keamo's efforts. Roberts and McManus each added two blocks.

Tarleton will travel to San Angelo to take on Angelo State on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
