STEPHENVILLE – No. 10 Tarleton had no issues with Southwestern Christian in its only exhibition game of the season, as the Texans cruised past the Eagles 77-49 on Sunday at Wisdom Gym.

The Texans had 10 players score in the game and were led by
Josh Hawley's 19 points as well as
Romond Jenkins' double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. Tarleton shot 44 percent from the floor and drilled nine 3-pointers on 37 percent shooting in the game. The Texans were efficient defensively as well, holding the Eagles to 33 percent shooting while Tarleton blocked six shots and had eight steals.

Tarleton built a double-digit lead in the first eight minutes of the game when
Josh Hawley drained a 3-pointer for a 19-8 advantage. The Texans used runs of 10-0, 7-0 and 10-1 in the first half to lead 46-21 at the break. Tarleton connected on seven 3's in the first half and shot 46 percent from behind the arc while holding Southwest Christian to 28 percent from the floor and forced nine turnovers.

The Eagles came out in the second half and scored six of the first eight points before the Texans responded with a 9-0 run on five points from Hawley and four points from
Deshawn Riddick for a 30-point lead at 57-27 with 13:40 remaining. Riddick finished with 12 points on the afternoon. Tarleton played the remaining of the game with at least a 22-point lead over Southwestern Christian en route to the 26-point win.

Anthony Davis and
Denzel Smith each scored seven points and pulled down three rebounds in the game.
Chantz Chambers and
Ridell Camidge added six points apiece while
Curtiss Anderson had four points and five rebounds off the bench.
Stephen Edwards led the Texans with four assists and scored three points.
Jacob Morales hit a jumper late in the second to round out the Texan scoring.

Tarleton will open the season against Adams State for the Texan Tip-Off Classic on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
