STEPHENVILLE – No. 16 Tarleton capped off an undefeated week of Lone Star Conference play with a convincing 73-60 win over Cameron on Saturday at Wisdom Gym.

The Texans (6-1, 2-0) shot a season-best 53 percent from the floor and was 53 percent on 3-pointers (10 of 19) to cruise past a good Cameron squad (7-2, 1-1).

Outside of Cameron's hot start where its first four baskets were 3-pointers to jump out to a 14-3 lead, it was all Tarleton and its defense the remainder of the game. The Texans, who lead the LSC in defensive points allowed at 60.4, have held teams at 60 points or less in each of the last three games.

The Texans limited Cameron to only 11 points in the final 16 minutes of the half and outscored the Aggies 26-11 over that span. Ridell Camdige caught fire in the first half, scoring 15 of his 17 points in the first 20 minutes – including a stretch of three straight 3-pointers that gave Tarleton its first lead at 27-25 with 2:31 remaining. Camidge also pulled down a career-high eight rebounds. Tarleton led 29-25 at the break.

Josh Hawley went scoreless in the first half, but the redshirt freshman, who was making his second straight start, scored 16 points in the second half. Hawley opened the half with seven straight points for the Texans.
Chantz Chambers, who had 12 points, followed Hawlye's lead by knocking down a pair of 3-pointers to give Tarleton its first double-digit lead at 42-32.

Deshawn Riddick assisted on four of the first five buckets of the second half to stretch the Texan lead. Riddick finished the game with a career-high nine assist, topping his previous best of seven assist back in January of last season.

The Texans went on a 14-2 run to build a 20-point lead at 56-36 and got points from five different players during the stretch: Hawley,
Romond Jenkins,
Denzel Smith,
Curtiss Anderson and
Nosa Ebomwonyi.

Jenkins posted his second straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and also blocked a career-high four shots. It's Jenkins' fourth double-double of the season (7
th of his career) and Tarleton is 4-0 in those games.

Cameron worked the game back to within eight points at 60-52 with 5:10 to go, but Tarleton closed the door with a 9-2 run.

The Texans controlled the boards, outrebounding Cameron 41-33 and had three players with at least eight rebounds: Jenkins (11), Hawley (9), Camidge (8). Tarleton also had 22 fast-break points that was created by matching a season-high with 17 assists, which they did in a win over Midwestern State.

Tarleton had nine points off the bench, led by
Denzel Smith's four points,
Nosa Ebomwonyi's three and
Curtiss Anderson's two.

Tarleton will have its first road trip of the season as the Texans travel to Western New Mexico on Thursday, Dec. 8 and Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 10.
