THE GAMES
Tarleton will continue its nine-game road trip to start the season with a three-game series at No. 12 St. Mary's on Feb. 12-13. The Texans will play a 3 p.m. game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton played a three-game tournament at the Houston Winter Invitation at Minute Maid Park and went 1-2. The Texans capped off the tournament with a 1-0 walk-off win in 10 innings over No. 16 Henderson State thanks to Jake Hasbrouck's RBI single.
 
RECEIVING VOTES
Tarleton State is currently on the outside of the Collegiate Baseball Top 40 poll, but is receiving votes for the rankings.
 
THE OPPONENT: ST. MARY'S
No. 12 St. Mary's is 4-2 on the season and have won two straight entering its series with Tarleton. The Rattlers have scored at least 10 runs in five of six games and are averaging 9.3 runs per game with a .362 team batting average. STMU is last in the Heartland Conference with a 6.40 ERA and are allowing a .308 opponent batting average. Second baseman Bryan Ramirez leads the Rattlers offensively with a .545 average and 12 hits in six games.
 
THE SERIES: ST. MARY'S
Tarleton is 16-36 all time with St. Mary's but has seen recent success against the Rattlers. The Texans played STMU five times last season and won four of five, including two out of three in San Antonio. Tarleton is 8-21 all time when playing at St. Mary's.
 
RENFRO HONORED
Senior pitcher Trevor Renfro claimed his first career Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week award on Tuesday. Renfro struck out 12 in No. 16 Henderson State and carries a 2.45 ERA and a league-high 15 strikeouts in the weekend series.
 
STRIKEOUT RECORD
Trevor Renfro (12) and Callaway Kirkpatrick (5) combined for 17 strikeouts in 10 innings in a 1-0 win over Henderson State on Sunday. The 17 strikeouts tied a Tarleton record set by Paul Darnell when he struck out 17 in 1999 and Dustin Holland (16) and Kerry Schindler (1) combined for 17 in 2003.
