After 13 days off, Tarleton is set to open Lone Star Conference play on the road at West Texas A&M for a 4-game series in Canyon. The Texans will open on Friday, March 4, followed by a Saturday doubleheader and one game on Sunday, March 6.

THE OPPONENT
West Texas A&M is 11-3 on the season and has won eight of its last nine games. The Buffs are 9-1 on the season at home. West Texas A&M is led by Matt Cole at the plate with a .420 batting average and a team-high 21 hits. The Buffs have a 4.04 team ERA on the season and are hitting .300, both are third in the Lone Star Conference.

Tarleton and West Texas A&M have met over 100 times since the series began in 1994 and the Texans hold the all-time lead in the series 58-46-1. Tarleton is 20-23-1 all-time as the road team in the series.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton's last win came on Feb. 20 in game two of the home-opening series against No. 30 Emporia State. The then-reigning Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week,
Stacy Heinatz, got the job done with one out and the bases loaded in the 10th inning to deliver a win over the Hornets. Tarleton dropped two of three to the Hornets in the last series.

LEADING THE LSC
Landon Thompson is off to an offensive tear to the season. Thompson leads the LSC with a .550 batting average and a .591 on-base percentage.
Trevor Renfro is also tops in the LSC with 25 innings pitched.

RELYING ON RENFRO
Trevor Renfro has thrown at least five innings in all four starts this season, including back-to-back starts of seven innings and has a pair of double-digit strikeout games in four starts. Renfro has a 2.52 ERA in four starts and is 2-0 on the year.
