THE GAME
No. 9 Tarleton travels to No. 5 Angelo State for a NCAA top-10 matchup on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The Texans will then head to Texas A&M-Kingsville to play the Javelinas on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m.

THE BROADCAST
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans, Byron Anderson, will be calling the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. TARLETON VS RANKED TEAMS
Tarleton is 11-6 vs. ranked teams over the last three seasons, including 1-0 this season. Tarleton's game on Thursday is the second top-10 matchup against Angelo State in the last two years. Then-No. 7 Tarleton defeated then-No. 4 Angelo State, 85-67.

THE OPPONENT: ANGELO STATE
No. 5-ranked Angelo State is off to a 10-0 start on the season and 2-0 in Lone Star Conference play. Angelo State is averaging 84.5 points per game while holding teams to 67.9 points on 36 percent shooting. Quay King leads the Rams in scoring at 20.2 points per game. Lorenzo Dillard (14.9) Thomas Tshikaya (12.0), Brandon Williams (10.8) and Shaquan Rhoades (10.5) also average double figures. Tshikaya is the team-leader in rebounds (9.7) and Dillard averages a team-best 5.3 assists per game.

THE SERIES: ANGELO STATE
Tarleton leads the all-time series with Angelo State, 37-34. Tarleton is 32-14 in the Lonn Reisman era (1988) against Angelo State. The Texans won the last meeting, 77-72, in the NCAA South Central Regional Championship last season. The Texans are 12-10 on the road against Angelo State.

THE OPPONENT:  TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
Texas A&M-Kingsville is 7-4 overall and 0-2 in LSC play this season. The Javelinas have lost two straight and host Texas A&M-Commerce before they face Tarleton. TAMUK is 5-2 at home this season.  TAMUK is averaging 70.4 points and giving up 65.5 to opponents. Trey Sumpter is averaging 15.1 points to lead the team. Caelan Neal also posts double figures with 10.4 points. Duan Wright leads the team in rebounds (5.4) and Derrick Byrd (2.7) leads the team in assists.

THE SERIES:  TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
Tarleton leads the all-time series 38-22 since the two teams first met in 1969. The Texans are 34-12 in the Lonn Reisman era (1988) and have won six straight over the Javelinas and 14 of 15. Tarleton is 10-9 all time on the road.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton defeated Ouachita Baptist 87-68 on New Years Eve to win its ninth straight game.

TARLETON IN THE NABC RANKINGS
Tarleton is ranked No. 9 in the nation with a 12-1 record. This marks the 120th week the Texans have been ranked by the NABC in program history.
