Texans bounce back with 26-point win over Western New Mexico

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton men's basketball came away with its largest win of the season in an 85-59 rout over Western New Mexico on Thursday in Wisdom Gym.
 
The Texans (5-3, 2-1) led from start to finish and had four players score in double figures, led by Corinthian Ramsey's 26 points, his fourth 20-point game of the season. The Texans rebounded from Saturday's loss at Cameron and improved to 3-0 after a loss, winning by an average of 15 points in the games following a defeat.
 
Tarleton jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game with Ramsey scoring seven quick points. Preston Enloe drilled back-to-back 3-pointers for a 28-17 lead and the Texans would stay on top by double figures throughout the game.
 
The Texans had a season-high 16 assists that helped them shoot 54 percent for the game, which is also a season high. Deshawn Riddick led the Texan offense with eight assists – all in the first half – and added 12 points and five rebounds.
 
The Texans used a 16-2 run in the first half to build a 23-point lead that featured two straight alley-oop dunks from Riddick to Josh Hawley. Hawley recorded his third career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while also adding three blocks and two steals.
 
Tarleton led 48-28 at halftime and opened the second half on a 6-0 run with a 3-point play from Jaraan Lands and a 3-pointer from Riddick to go up 54-28. Lands scored 10 points and had six rebounds in the game.
 
The largest lead of the game came with 7:23 remaining when Nosa Ebomwonyi's layup made it a 33-point advantage for a 76-43 score. Ebomwonyi scored six points, but also had three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
 
The Texan starters scored 70 of the 85 points, with the bench scoring coming from Enloe and Clashon Gaffney each with six points and Anthony Davis scoring three.
 
Tarleton will host Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
