THE GAMES
Tarleton Baseball is back in Stephenville this weekend for a three-game series against Arkansas-Fort Smith Friday and Saturday. The Texans will play two against the Lions Friday beginning at 1 p.m. before wrapping up the series with a single game Saturday. This series was originally scheduled to be played in Fort Smith, Arkansas but was changed to Stephenville last month.
TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are available at the Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for non-Stephenville campus Tarleton students. Tarleton's Stephenville Campus Students receive free admission to all home games with valid Stephenville Campus Student ID.
ABOUT THE TEXANS
Tarleton is off to its best 9-game start to a season since the 2014 campaign that saw the Texans win the Lone Star Conference Tournament and qualify for the NCAA regional tournament. The Texans enter the weekend with a 7-2 record and recently took two of three at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
Blake Adams is leading the team offensively with a .469 hitting clip while
Austin Call (.360),
Dylan Lemons (.345),
Jake Hasbrouck (.333),
Garret Kizer (.333), and
Francisco Rodriguez (.324) are all sitting above the .300 average mark among hitters with at least 10 at bats.
ABOUT THE LIONS
Arkansas-Fort Smith come into the series looking to reverse their latest fortunes. After opening the season with five wins in their first seven games, the Lions have now lost four straight including a 5-13 loss to close out the Winter Invitational against Tarleton in Houston last Sunday. The Lions have three .300 hitters – Anthony Seminaris, Logan Allen, and Brennan Dooly – with at least 30 at bats this season while Evan Dodd leads their pitching staff with a 2.37 ERA in 19.0 innings of work.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton leads the all-time series 1-0 after winning the first-ever meeting with the Lions 13-5 last Sunday to close out the Houston Winter Invitational.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans remain in Stephenville for five more games, beginning with a four-game, non-conference series against West Texas A&M next weekend. The Texans and Buffs will play four next Friday-Sunday but the games will not count toward the Lone Star Conference standings. The games will, however, count as in-region games.
