ABOUT THE TEXANS
Tarleton comes into the series with a 3-0 mark after sweeping their opening series against Arlington Baptist. It was the Texans' first opening weekend sweep since 2012 and the Tarleton pitching staff tossed back-to-back shutouts in the first two games of the season for the first time since 1996, which ultimately led to Tarleton starting the season with 19.1 innings of scoreless work.
ABOUT THE RATTLERS
St. Mary's started the season off with a loss to Arkansas Tech but have rebounded to win three in a row heading into this weekend's series with Tarleton, including a 10-6 win over NAIA Our Lady of the Lake Tuesday. A perennial national contender, St. Mary's entered the season ranked No. 6 in the National College Baseball Writer's Association regional rankings and are led offensively by Donnie Perez (.588) and Jack Kaiser (.500).
