THE GAMES
Tarleton will welcome Lone Star Conference rival West Texas A&M into town for a rare non-conference series at the Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex this weekend. The teams will open things up with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Friday with 1 p.m. single games on Saturday and Sunday. While the games do not count toward conference standings, they are still in-region games for both teams.

TWEAK IN THE SCHEDULE
The games were originally scheduled for a 1-2-1 series, but weather forecasts prompted a preemptive move for the coaches. The game will now be played as a 2-1-1 series all at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE TEAMS
Tarleton is off to its best start since 2014 and enter the game with a 10-2 record through this point. The Texans are ranked No. 6 in the latest NCBWA South Central regional media poll after moving up two spots from No. 8 last week. Meanwhile, West Texas A&M come into the weekend ranked No. 23 in the nation by the NCBWA media poll and unranked in the official NCAA Collegiate Baseball Coaches Poll top 30 with an overall record of 9-1.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and West Texas A&M have met 105 times over the course of its rivalry that dates back to 1994 and the Texans lead the all-time series 58-46-1. The Texans are 33-19 all-time against the Buffs in Stephenville.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON?
Tarleton will host its first mid-week game of the season Wednesday afternoon when the Texans welcome St. Mary's to town for a 3 p.m. single game at the Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex.
