THE GAMES
Tarleton heads south this weekend to begin conference action with Texas A&M-Kingsville at Nolan Ryan Field. The Texans and Javelinas will play a 1-2-1 series this weekend, beginning with a nine-inning game Friday at 6 p.m. The teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and wrap up with a 1 p.m. single game Sunday afternoon.
ABOUT THE TEXANS
Tarleton heads into Lone Star Conference action with a 16-8 record this season. The Texans are hitting .277 as a team, led by
Blake Adams (.356) and
Austin Call (.329) who are above the .300 average line with at least 75 at bats. Meanwhile, the Texan pitching staff boasts a 3.56 ERA led by starter
Nathan Hickey with a 1.59 ERA in a team high 34.0 innings. Tarleton comes into the series receiving votes in the D2 Collegiate Baseball News poll.
ABOUT THE JAVELINAS
The Javelinas got off to an 11-0 start to the season before hitting a seven-game skid against West Texas A&M and Cameron in non-conference play. Kingsville won the final game of its series against Cameron 3-2 to head into this series with a 12-7 record. The Javelinas are hitting .294 as a team, led by Christian Caudle at .400, while the pitching staff has a 3.53 team ERA, led by Seth Huber with a 1.69 ERA in 32.0 innings of work.
