PORTALES, NEW MEXICO – Tarleton baseball dropped a pair of road games to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, with the Greyhounds now leading the four-game series two games to one. Tarleton will play the series finale on Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m.

Game 1: Eastern New Mexico 6, Tarleton 1
Â
Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico started out with a pitchers duel in the first few innings of the doubleheader opener, as the teams exchanged scoreless innings up until the third inning.

The Greyhounds scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run single after a single and a pair of walks to load the bases.
Â
Jake Hasbrouck led off the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run to center field to cut the lead in half at 2-1. It was the sixth home run of the year for Hasbrouck, and his first since March 17. Hasbrouck finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Evan Pontley (4-3) started the game for the Texans, tossing five innings and gave up six runs while walking four and striking out two.

The Greyhounds added a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth and a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to pad the lead to 6-1.

The Texans managed only four hits in the game, with
Stacy Heinatz recording a pinch-hit single in the sixth and
Jake Shelby added a single in the fourth.

Chris Reed threw a scoreless inning in relief, allowing only one hit and needed only five pitches to get three outs.

Game 2: Eastern New Mexico 7, Tarleton 6

Tarleton struck first in the second game of the doubleheader, with
Blake Adams leading off the game with a walk and advanced to second to set up
Dylan Lemons' RBI single to left field for the game's first run.

Eastern New Mexico responded with four runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning. The Greyhounds had three singles and two walks in the inning to pull ahead early. ENM would add two more runs in the second for a 6-1 lead.

Austin Call led off the fifth inning with a double down the left field line, followed by
Francisco Rodriguez's single that scored Call on a throwing error. Lemons followed with a single through the left side to score Rodriguez. The Texans had the bases loaded with two outs, but a strike out ended the scoring threat.

After a pair of singles by Adams and Call to set up runners at the corners to lead off the sixth inning, Rodriguez blasted a three-run home run to left field to make it a one-run game at 7-6. Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

The Texans had the tying run at third base in the top of the seventh after
Jose Reyes reached base on a hit by pitch and stole second, but the Texans couldn't bring him home as a strike out ended the game.

Tarleton managed to out-hit ENMU, 11-10, but left nine men on base.
Dylan Lemons had a game-hit three hits while going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.
Austin Call also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Adams, Hasbrouck,
Garret Kizer and
Jon Tauzin also recorded hits.

Colby Fowler started on the mound for the Texans and fell to 2-4 on the year after giving up four runs in the first.
Conner Fletcher threw 4.1 innings in relief, striking out five but walking six.
Eli McLane threw the final 1.1 innings, giving up no runs on a hit and two strike outs.
