THE GAME
Tarleton men's basketball takes a break from Lone Star Conference play to take on Northern New Mexico (NAIA) on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
THE BROADCAST
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans, Byron Anderson, will be calling the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. ABOUT THE EAGLES:
Northern New Mexico is 13-14 overall and 6-2 in the Association of Independent Institutions (NAIA). The Eagles are 11-2 at home but only 1-10 on the road this season. NNMC has played two oppoents that Tarleton has this season in West Texas A&M (L, 106-75) and Wayland Baptist (L, 94-85). The Eagles are averaging 81.4 points per game and giving up 88 to opponents. NNMC has two players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Bryce Simmons' 14.4 points.
THE SERIES: NORTHERN NEW MEXICO
Tarleton and Northern New Mexico are playing for the first time in program history.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL RANKINGS
Tarleton is ranked No. 9 in the first South Central Regional Rankings. West Texas A&M is the top seed in the region, followed by UT Permian Basin (2), A&M-Commerce (7) and Angelo State (8) from the LSC. The top eight ranked teams from the Lone Star, Heartland, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences advance to the NCAA Tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton defeated Texas A&M-Commerce, 77-73, to move into sole possession of third place in the Lone Star Conference. Corinthian Ramsey led the Texans in scoring with 18 points.
