Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Texans fall to No. 7 West Texas A&M, 82-76

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton men's basketball fell in the final game of the regular season, 82-76, to West Texas A&M on Saturday in Wisdom Gym.

The Texans finished the regular season 18-10 overall and 12-6 in the Lone Star Conference. The Texans won the coin flip by the LSC and will be the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament in Frisco next week. Game times and opponents will be announced at a later time.

The Texans were led by Corinthian Ramsey's 24 points, while Deshawn Riddick added 18 points and Jaraan Lands posted 17.

West Texas A&M shot 48 percent from the floor compared to Tarleton's 35 percent. However, the Texans were able to make up the difference in field goals made (30-17) at the free throw line, as the Texans went to the line 41 times and made 33.

WT led 31-21 with four minutes to go in the first half, but the Texans scored the next nine points at the free throw line to bring the game to within one point. The Buffs led 35-31 at the break.

Josh Hawley's two-hand dunk capped off a 6-0 run to start the second half and gave the Texans their first lead since the opening minutes of the game, 37-35. Hawley finished with six points and a team-high nine rebounds before fouling out in the final minutes.

Tarleton would hold 54-51 lead with 9:45 to go after a Ramsey 3-pointer and two free throws from Lands. After the Buffs answered with seven straight points to take a 61-54 advantage, the Texans responded with a 10-2 run to go back up by one, 66-65, with four minutes left.

The Buffs, however, went to all-american guard David Chavlovich, who scored the teams final seven points to pull away for the victory.

The Texnas had 11 points off the bench, led by Jesse Hill's six points, followed by Preston Enloe with three and Clashon Gaffney with two.
