TexAnns drop regular season finale to West Texas A&M

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton women's basketball closed out the regular season with an 87-60 loss to No. 25 West Texas A&M in Wisdom Gym.
 
The TexAnns will head into the Lone Star Conference tournament in Frisco with an 18-10 record and 12-8 in league play. The seeding a first round opponent for the TexAnns will be announced later in the day.
 
West Texas A&M shot lights out all game, connecting on 57 percent of its shots and 50 percent on 3-pointers. The TexAnns, on the other hand, struggled to get shots to fall, shooting just 28 percent and 32 percent behind the arc.
 
Katie Webster led the TexAnns with 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks. McKinley Bostad and Mackenzie Hailey each added 10 points, with Bostad pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
 
The shooting woes led to WT jumping out to a 27-12 first quarter lead and carried over into the second quarter where they led 48-27 at half.
 
The TexAnns came out in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Buffs, 20-18, with all 20 points coming from Webster, Bostad, and Hailey.
 
The Lady Buffs dominated the points in the pain, scoring 48 points down low to Tarleton's 10. Lexy Hightower led all scorers with 19 points, as four Lady Buffs scored in double figures.
 
Tarleton honored three players for senior day prior to the game in Tiara Tatum, Baylee Peck, and Trejouir Wilson. Tatum scored eight points, and Wilson six points.
 
Kylie Collins (6), Makaila Tyer (3), and Lucy Benson (2) also scored off the bench in the game.
