TexAnns fall to top-seeded Lubbock Christian in opening round of NCAA Regional Tournament

LUBBOCK – Tarleton's season came to an end with an NCAA South Central Region quarterfinal loss to tournament host and top-seeded Lubbock Christian, 78-46.
 
The TexAnns finished the season 20-12, the first 20-win season under fourth-year head coach Misty Wilson and the first 20-win season by the TexAnns since 2013-14. It's the second straight season Wilson has guided the TexAnns to the NCAA Tournament.
 
McKinley Bostad led the TexAnns with 14 points and a pair of steals. Bostad was the only TexAnn to score in double figures in the game.
 
Lubbock Christian, the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, improves to 29-1 overall on the season.
 
LCU took control in the first quarter, outscoring the TexAnns 26-7. The Lady Chaps shot 54 percent in the game and 48 percent on 3-pointers (11-23) that helped take the early lead.
 
The TexAnns outscored Lubbock Christian in the second quarter, 16-14, and went on an 8-0 run to close the first half that included holding the Lady Chaps scoreless for the final 5:53 of the second quarter.
 
The TexAnns went toe-to-toe with LCU in the third quarter as well, as the Lady Chaps only outscored the TexAnns 19-17 to open the second half.
 
Tiara Tatum scored seven points and had four rebounds in her final game as a TexAnn. Baylee Peck, the other TexAnn senior, had three points, three rebounds and two assists.
 
Katie Webster had six points and a team-high six rebounds while Kylie Collins had the TexAnns' first points on a 3-poiner in the first quarter for her only points.
 
Off the bench, Nina Alvarez and Shelby Mankins each scored five points while Trejouir Wilson scored three points.
