THE GAMES
No. 15 Tarleton has had a record-setting regular season and will now turn its attention to the playoffs, beginning with the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament at Mayer Field in San Angelo. The TexAnns will square off with Cameron in a battle of regionally-ranked opponents to start the tournament at 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The winner of that quarterfinal game will advance to the semifinal round against top-seeded Angelo State later in the evening at 6:30 p.m.
 
WHAT'S AT STAKE
Tarleton is sitting at No. 5 in the South Central regional rankings and appears primed to make their sixth NCAA regional tournament appearance in program history. The winner of the LSC Tournament will receive an automatic bid into the national playoffs. The eight teams chosen to represent the South Central region in the national playoffs will be named on Monday, May 7 at 9 a.m. CT on NCAA.com.

A LOOK AT LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton closed out the regular season at home with a three-game sweep against UT Permian Basin. Tarleton outscored the Falcons 22-1 for the weekend with Megan Rosewell tossing 11.2 innings of scoreless softball. Megan Durante hit .750 for the weekend with six runs scored and three driven in.
 
TEXANNS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The TexAnns stayed at No. 15 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in the latest rankings. For Tarleton, it's the 10th week in school history that the TexAnns have been a national top 20 team. Tarleton continues its record streak of weeks in the top 20 at six straight.
 
MILESTONE WATCH: NYKA WOOD
Nyka Wood, who is already the school's all-time leader in RBI, doubles, and games played, is currently closing in on the following school records:
 
• Hits – Wood (250) is 11 hits shy of passing Melody Mayse (260) for the all-time hits record
• Total Bases – Wood (371) is 18 total bases shy of passing Arianna Rodriguez (388) for the most total bases in program history.
 
MILESTONE WATCH: JORDAN WITHROW
Jordan Withrow is currently enjoying a stellar sophomore season and broke the single-season record for strikeout in a season with 199 and became the first player in school history to strike out 200 in a season. Withrow is closing in on the another single-season school records:
 
• Wins – Withrow is two wins away from passing Brooke Saulters (24; 2007) for the most wins by a Tarleton pitcher in a single season.
 
MILESTONE WATCH: Georgia Capell
Georgia Capell is enjoying one of the all-time greatest freshman seasons in the history of TexAnn Softball. The newcomer from Midlothian is currently closing in on the following single-season record:
 
• Home Runs – Capell is three home runs away from passing Arianna Rodriguez (18; 2012) for the most home runs in a year.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and Cameron have met 44 times since Tarleton's inaugural season of softball in 1996 and the TexAnns hold a 29-14-1 lead in the all-time series, including a 2-1 series win for the TexAnns in Stephenville earlier this year. Tarleton has won 10 of the last 14 games against Cameron, dating back to the second game of a doubleheader on April 10, 2015.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
If Tarleton wins two games on Thursday, the TexAnns would advance to the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship game at 2 p.m. on Saturday in San Angelo. The NCAA regional Tournament is scheduled for May 10-12.
