MEN'S BASKETBALL GAME DAY: Saturday, Nov. 14 vs. Oklahoma Baptist

No. 24 Tarleton makes home debut against Oklahoma Baptist

THE GAME
No. 24 Tarleton men's basketball makes its 2019 home debut against Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. The Texans enter the game 1-1 while Oklahoma Baptist is 2-0.

Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans Casey Hogan will have the call for Tarleton basketball this season. ABOUT TARLETON
The Texans are ranked No. 24 in the NABC poll and enter the weekend 1-1 after splitting its opening tournament at the RMCA/LSC Challenge in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Texans topped Metro State in the opener, 85-71, and then fell to Black Hills State, 78-75. Tarleton is averaging 80 points per game through two contests and giving up 74.5 points to opponents. Tarleton is shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 46 percent on 3-pointers. Josh Hawley leads the Texans with 20.5 points per game and adds seven rebounds and two steals. Randall Broddie (11.5 ppg), Jaraan Lands (11.5 ppg) and Devin Bethely (11.0 ppg) are all averaging double-digit points for the Texans.
 
ABOUT OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Oklahoma Baptist is 2-0 on the season under second-year head coach Jason Eaker. The Bison have wins against Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State. OBU is averaging 77.5 points and holding teams to 57.5 points on just 35 percent shooting. OBU has four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Rashad Lewis' 12.5 points. Harrison Stoddart is nearly averaging a double-double through two games at 10 points and 8 rebounds.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Tarleton and Oklahoma Baptist are meeting for the first time in 30 years this weekend. The Bison won the first two meetings in series history, including the first meeting in Stephenville in 1988 -- Lonn Reisman's first year as head coach -- and then again in 1989 on the road in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will take on Wiley College for a home exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. and then begin Lone Star Conference play against Dallas Baptist on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
