Women’s Basketball Game Day: Dec. 19-21 vs. UT-Tyler, No. 8 A&M-Commerce

The Texans return to Wisdom after three-straight road games

AT A GLANCE
The Tarleton Women's Basketball team (5-3, 0-3 LSC) returns home to Wisdom Gym this weekend after three straight games on the road. The Texans will face University of Texas-Tyler (2-5, 0-3 LSC) on Thursday, December 19th and then No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce (9-0, 3-0 LSC) on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Texans' upset bid of No. 2 Lubbock Christian fell short, 58-49. Mackenzie Hailey led the team with 14 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Collins added nine points and three assists. Benson (8), Guillory (6), Faurie (6), Hoy (5), and Jayci Morton (1) rounded out the scoring for the Texans.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: UT-TYLER
Thursday's match-up marks the first meeting between the Texans and the Patriots. This is UT-Tyler's first year in the LSC after transitioning from NCAA Division III to Division II.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
The Texans and Lions last met in February, where Tarleton defeated A&M-Commerce in Wisdom, 65-59. Tarleton leads the all-time series 32-23 and holds the advantage in Stephenville, 19-6. Texas A&M-Commerce enters the game undefeated on the season and is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation by WBCA and No. 7 by D2SIDA.

Mackenzie Hailey is climbing the all-time leaderboard in several categories and is close to moving up to the next spot:
• Points: 1,542 (6th all-time); Needs 2 points to pass Shelby Adamson for 5th place.
• Blocks: 108 (4th place); Needs 6 blocks to pass Kaelie Butler for 3rd place.
• Steals: 200 (8th place); Needs 10 steals to pass Ronda Edwards for 7th place.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will continue their five-game homestand with three games next week. First, the Texans will take on McMurry on New Year's Eve at 2 p.m. Tarleton will then face Texas A&M-Kingsville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Texas A&M-International on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
