STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton suffered a 16-3 loss in the series finale at UT Permian Basin last weekend to settle for a series split with the Falcons.
Tarleton fell behind early as the Falcons put up a four-run first inning. The Texans cut it in half in the third when
Colby Seltzer scored on a wild pitch and
Jake Spence drew a bases-loaded hit by pitch to push another run across.
UT Permian Basin answered, however, with seven in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth while Tarleton scored just one more in the seventh on another wild pitch.
Seltzer,
Blake Burns, and Spence all led the offense with two base hits while
Jacob Walker added one of his own to round out the offense. Tarleton used six pitchers on the afternoon.
Michael Pilato ended the day with a four-up, four-down performance.
Jon Law suffered the loss.
Tarleton will begin Lone Star Conference action at home next weekend when the Texans host Cameron for four games, beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
