KINGSVILLE – Tarleton Tennis dropped another 4-3 nail-biter Friday afternoon as the No. 15-ranked TexAnns fell on the road to No. 34-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The doubles point right off the bat proved costly for Tarleton once again as the TexAnns only managed a 6-0 win from
Faustine Palatte and
Sherine Salem in the No. 2 position. Tarleton fell in the No. 1 and 3 matches by identical 6-3 scores to head into singles trailing 1-0.
Salem evened things up with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 3 position, but two straight Kingsville wins in the No. 5 and 6 spots put Tarleton in a 3-1 deficit.
The TexAnns would rally back, though, as the top two players in Tarleton's lineup –
Alicia Barbaroux and
Neetika Sud – brought the match back even at 3-3 with wins. Barbaroux handled the No. 1 match after battling back from a 2-6 loss in the first set to win 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Sud won the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-2.
Tarleton dropped a heartbreaker in the No. 4 match to close it out, despite a valiant effort from Palatte (7-6, 1-6, 5-7).
