Baseball Game Day: May 4-5 vs UT Permian Basin

Tarleton looks to lock up final spot in LSC Tournament in regular season finale against UTPB

THE GAMES
The final spot in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament is up for grabs and Tarleton Baseball will square off with UT Permain Basin in a four-game series this weekend for a chance to secure the final spot. The series begins Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled at 1 p.m. and will close out on Sunday with a doubleheader also scheduled at 1 p.m. All game times are Central Time.

SENIOR WEEKEND
Tarleton will honor seven seniors for Senior Day on Sunday before the first game of the doubleheader. The seven Texan seniors that will be honored are: Alex DeBell, Sam Scarborough, Case Rolen, Zach Svensson, Connor Flanagan, Brian Archibald, and Chris Reed.

FREE ADMISSION
The series against UT Permian Basin will be free admission for all fans for all four games of the series.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
Tarleton holds a one-game lead over Eastern New Mexico for the sixth spot in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament. Three victories in the series would lock Tarleton into the postseason tournament. Tarleton has its four-game series with UT Permian Basin remaining on the schedule while the Greyhounds have a trip to Kingsville this weekend. The LSC Tournament is a single-elimination event hosting the top six teams in the league standings with the winner advancing to the national playoffs with an automatic qualifying bid. Traditionally held at the league's top seed, Angelo State will not be allowed to host the tournament if the Rams win the league title due to a schedule conflict at Foster Field. If Angelo State, who is at the top of the standings to date, holds on, the tournament will revert to the home of the next-highest seed West Texas A&M.

GAME COVERAGE
There will be live stats and video for the games, courtesy of the home team. All four games will be broadcast by Byron Anderson on the radio on KTRL 100.7 FM and online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. Direct links can be found on the Game Day preview story and Game Day graphics on Tarleton's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, as well as on the team schedule page at TarletonSports.com. Fans can also have direct access to all the links for every game by downloading the Tarleton Sports mobile app for iOS and Android.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton split a four-game series on the road with Eastern New Mexico. The series was highlighted by Tarleton's 21-13 offensive outburst in game two. Ty Jones was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for his game one performance where he threw 7 innings and gave up two hits and no runs with eight strikeouts.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and UT Permian Basin split a four-game series in Odessa back in March, moving the Texans' all-time record to 14-2 over the Falcons since they first played in 2011. Tarleton is 7-0 at home against the Falcons.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
If Tarleton qualifies for the LSC Championship Tournament, it will take place on May 9-11 at the second-highest seed since LSC Champion Angelo State can't host the tournament due to a scheduling conflict.
