Aaron Meade named next head baseball coach

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Athletic Director Lonn Reisman has named Aaron Meade the newest head baseball coach of the Tarleton Texans. Meade will be officially introduced at a press conference in Wisdom Gym Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m.

"This has been one of most intense summers that I can remember in 30 years here, but we're excited that everything has brought us to this point," said Reisman. "Aaron is a young man that we are all very excited about. He has had success as a top assistant at the NCAA Division II level and I expect he will bring that success to Stephenville. He is a very impressive young man with a strong drive and passion about winning baseball games and helping our young men succeed in the classroom. I'm looking forward to watching him grow as the next head baseball coach."

Meade comes to Tarleton after a four-year career as the top assistant and pitching coach for Pittsburg State University (MIAA) in Pittsburg, Kansas. Last year, Meade helped the Gorillas to their first 30-win season since 2004 and led the pitching staff to its lowest team ERA since 2002 (4.96).

Prior to his four seasons at Pitt State, Meade spent one year at William Jewell College and helped the Cardinals to their first NCAA regional tournament berth in school history. He also spent a season as the volunteer assistant at his alma mater, Missouri State, where he helped his team reach the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Tournament.

Meade shined on the field for Missouri State from 2008-10 where he was a two-time All-MVC selection before being selected in the 10th round (324th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels. Meade pitched in the minor leagues for four seasons, winning nine games and striking out 165 batters in over 200 innings of work. He was named the Angels' Instructional League Pitcher of the Year in 2010.

Meade becomes the eighth head coach in program history, replacing Mike Sirianni.
