Women’s Basketball Game Day: Jan. 9-11 at Oklahoma Christian, Arkansas-Fort Smith

Texans hit the road for first time since December 14th for a pair of conference games

AT A GLANCE
The Tarleton Women's Basketball team (9-4, 3-4 LSC) will hit the road for the first time since December 14th for a pair of conference games. The Texans will first battle Oklahoma Christian (3-8, 3-4 LSC) on Thursday and then head to Arkansas-Fort Smith (6-7, 3-4 LSC) on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton women's basketball won its third straight game by forcing a season-high 29 turnovers in a 73-69 win over Texas A&M International on Saturday in Wisdom Gym.
 
Mackenzie Hailey led the Texans with a game-high 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Hailey was one of three Texans with four steals on the afternoon, joined by Lucy Benson and Alexa Hoy. The Texans recorded 18 steals, which is by far a season high.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
The Texans and Eagles have met only once prior to Thursday's match-up. The first battle was back in 1990, where Tarleton fell to Oklahoma Christian at home, 62-80.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: ARKANSAS-FORT SMITH
The Texans and Lions last met in 2018, where Tarleton defeated Arkansas-Fort Smith in Stephenville, 81-69. The Texans and Lions have only met one other time, where Tarleton defeated Arkansas-Fort Smith on the road, 67-63, in 2017.
 
HAILEY REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK
Mackenzie Hailey is climbing the all-time leaderboard in several categories and is close to moving up to the next spot:
• Steals: 211 (7th place); Needs one steal to pass Eleanor Golding for 6th place.
 
WILSON RADIO SHOW BEGINS JAN. 7TH
The Misty Wilson Radio Show will start on Tuesday, January 7 at 12:30 p.m. from the lobby of First Financial Bank. The sixth-year head coach of the Texans will join Kyle Crews for a 30-minute program each week to discuss previous performances, upcoming opponents, and other storylines.
 
Student-Athletes will also join the show. Wilson's show will be held each Tuesday at noon during the season.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans return home next week for a pair of Lone Star Conference match-ups. First, the Texans will take on Texas-Permian Basin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16th. Next, Tarleton will battle Western New Mexico at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
