Women’s Basketball Game Day: Feb. 13-15 at #20 West Texas A&M, Eastern New Mexico

The Texans will head west to face West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico

AT A GLANCE
The Tarleton Women's Basketball team (17-5, 11-5 LSC) will embark on a two-game road trip this weekend. The Texans will face No. 20 West Texas A&M in Canyon on Thursday and then Eastern New Mexico in Portales, New Mexico on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Texans had no issues against Cameron as the Texans cruised to their fifth straight win with a 74-45 victory over the Aggies in Wisdom Gym.
 
Mackenzie Hailey and Alexa Hoy combined for 38 points and 17 rebounds in the one-sided victory that saw the Texans shoot 51 percent from the floor and held the Aggies to a season-low 23 percent.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: WEST TEXAS A&M
The Texans and Mustangs last met in 2019, where West Texas A&M defeated Tarleton in Wisdom, 76-62. The Buffs lead the all-time series 39-13 and hold the advantage in Canyon, 29-4. West Texas A&M is currently ranked No. 20 in the nation by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The Texans and Greyhounds last met in 2019, where Tarleton defeated Eastern New Mexico in Wisdom, 80-75. The Texans lead the all-time series 24-17 and hold the advantage in Portales, 13-10. Eastern New Mexico will battle Texas Woman's on Thursday before Saturday's match-up.
 
HAILEY REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK
Mackenzie Hailey is climbing the all-time leaderboard in several categories and is close to moving up to the next spot:
• Rebounds: 853 (6th place); Needs 11 rebounds to pass Kaelie Butler for 5th place.
• Steals: 229 (5th place); Needs 16 steals to pass Morgan Ashmore for 4th place.
• Blocks: 120 (3rd place); Needs 39 blocks to pass JoAnne Jones for 2nd place.
• Points: 1766 (2nd place); Needs 188 points to pass Jennifer Washington for 1st place.
 
HAILEY RANKED SECOND IN TEXAS WBB EFFICENCY
Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball ranks Mackenzie Hailey second among Texas women's basketball players (Division II) based on the NBA's formula for player efficiency rating.
 
Hailey is rated with an 18.53 efficiency mark. Lucy Benson, Marissa Escamilla, and Alexa Hoy also appear in the top-50 of the list, ranked at No. 28, 33, and 46, respectively
 
HEAD COACH MISTY WILSON RADIO SHOW
The Misty Wilson Radio Show takes place every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. from the lobby of First Financial Bank. The sixth-year head coach of the Texans will join Kyle Crews for a 30-minute program each week to discuss previous performances, upcoming opponents, and other storylines. Student-Athletes will join the show as well.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will return to Wisdom for the final two home games of the season next week. First, Tarleton will face St. Mary's on Thursday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m. The Texans will then face St. Edward's on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's match-up will be a max point game (500) in the Tarleton fan rewards app.
