STEPHENVILLE – It may be spring break on campus, but all five spring sports are in action this week for Tarleton Athletics.
Texan Baseball is the only sport at home while the other four sports are playing out of state. Track & Field is at the NCAA Championships in Alabama, Softball is in Oklahoma for conference doubleheaders, Golf is in California and Tennis is playing matches in Florida.
Tarleton Baseball will host Lubbock Christian for a four-game series on March 13-15 at the Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex. The series opener takes place on Friday at 3 p.m., which is also a Max Point Game on the Tarleton Fan Rewards App. Saturday will feature a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and the series will close out on Sunday with one game at 1 p.m.
Five Texans were selected to the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama on March 13-14. The two-day meet takes place at the Birmingham CrossPlex, hosted by the University of Montevallo and the City of Birmingham. The meet will be live streamed on NCAA.com.
The LSC-leading No. 21 Tarleton Softball team will travel to Oklahoma for a doubleheader at Cameron in Lawton on Friday, March 13 at 5 and 7 p.m. The Texans will then head to Oklahoma City to take on Oklahoma Christian for two games on Sunday, March 15 at 12 and 2 p.m.
Tarleton Golf is in Vista, California for the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational at the Shadowridge Golf Club. The tournament was scheduled for two days on March 9-10 but due to rain on Tuesday, the Texans will play all 36 holes on Monday.
Texan Tennis is in Florida for four matches against four different schools from March 9-13. They will take on Lee University on March 9 in Orlando then play at No. 6 Saint Leo on Wednesday. The Texans will battle No. 18 Florida Southern in Lakeland on Thursday and take on LSC opponent UT Tyler in Orlando on Friday.
BASEBALL
Tarleton Baseball split its four-game series with Cameron last weekend and moves to 12-10 on the season as they prepare for LCU. Lubbock Christian is 7-15 overall and have lost their last two games.
Blake Burns leads the offense with a .481 average and 1.421 OPS. Burns has 38 hits in 22 games and a team-leading seven home runs to go with 31 RBI. On the mound,
Luke Baley leads the pitching staff with a 2.86 ERA and 4-1 record in 22 innings to go with 25 strikeouts.

TRACK AND FIELD
Five Texans were selected to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham. The Texans will have two individual entries and one relay team in the championship.
On the women's side,
Jasmine McQuirter will compete in the women's long jump. The senior is currently ranked seventh with a measurement of 6.00m. McQuirter is one of 16 athletes competing in the event.
The Tarleton men will be represented by
Anterius Brown,
Mikel Stone,
Brandon McKissick, and
Colton Troutman. Brown qualified for the championship in both the 400m dash and 4x400m relay events. Brown currently ranks ninth in the 400m with a time of 47.35.

SOFTBALL
No. 21 Tarleton swept previously unbeaten and No. 2 UT Tyler last week to improve to 19-4 overall and atop the LSC standings at 6-0 in conference. The Texans are one of two undefeated LSC teams remaining. The Texans are 13-2 on the road and will take on Cameron, who is 16-11, 4-4 on the year. Sunday's opponent Oklahoma Christian is 21-5, 6-2 this season.
Georgia Capell currently leads the team with a .442 average, 34 hits and seven home runs this season.
Jordan Withrow leads the pitching staff with a 12-3 record and 1.63 ERA in 86 innings pitched. Withrow also has 106 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .158 batting average.

GOLF
Tarleton Golf is traveling to Vista, California for the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational. Due to rain, it's a one-day, 36-hole tournament at the Shadowridge Golf Club.
The Texans are the 45th-ranked team in NCAA Division II according to GolfStat.com.
Junie Khaw leads the Texans individually, ranked No. 71 in the nation.
TENNIS
Tarleton Women's Tennis is 4-3 on the season and is playing its first matches in the month of March. This week, they'll travel to Florida for four matches including a pair of ITA top-25 teams in No. 6 Saint Leo and No. 18 Florida Southern. They'll also play Lee University and UT Tyler.
Senior
Alicia Barbaroux leads the Texans as the No. 35-ranked individual in NCAA Division II.
