STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Baseball earned the Balfour Academic Excellence Award, an honor given for the sport academic title with the Lone Star Conference that signifies the highest team GPA by sport for the 2020 season.
In its last season in Division II with the LSC, the Texans posted a 3.368 GPA for the season. In the fall, the Texans had 20 players on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll list that requires at least a 3.30 GPA.
"I'm extremely proud of what our guys were able to achieve this spring," said head coach
Aaron Meade. "We preach accountability, responsibility, and commitment both on the field and most importantly, in the classroom. This is also a testament to our professors and student success staff here at Tarleton, especially given the circumstances of this past spring."
Tarleton went 14-10 in the 2020 season that was cut short by 24 games left on the regular season schedule due to COVID-19. The Texans have transitioned to NCAA Division I and joined the Western Athletic Conference where they will play a full WAC schedule in 2021.
