Tarleton Baseball travels to San Antonio for a midweek rematch with UIW

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton Baseball is about to hit the road again, albeit for a brief trip as they prepare to head to San Antonio and face off with the Incarnate Word Cardinals.

The two teams met earlier in the season in Stephenville for Tarleton's fourth game, UIW's first.

The game was played in frigid temperatures as the Texans took the 1-0 victory behind the right arm of Isiah Campa, who threw 6.0 innings allowing just one hit and striking out six. The Texans lone run came courtesy of a Carter Dobrinski RBI single to right field in the fourth inning.

Tarleton (10-21, 6-9 WAC) is coming off their first victory in a while, having lost nine straight before Sunday. They put together a complete performance in a 12-2 run-rule victory over Lamar. Bryce Hackett and London Green paved the way, with Hackett throwing a complete game, career-high eight innings allowing just two runs. Green hit two home runs, one from each side of the plate, to total six RBI.

The Texans are led offensively by Green, Alec Williams and Kemuel Thomas-Rivera. Green has a hit in 19 of his last 20 games and leads the team with 24 RBI. Thomas-Rivera leads the team with a .359 batting average and .511 slugging. Williams paces the team with 41 hits, 21 walks and nine stolen bases.

The Texans will start junior RHP Jake Pennington. He has two appearances on the season after returning from injury. In 3.2 innings pitched, Pennington has not allowed a hit or run, striking out four.

UIW (15-13, 5-4 SLC) is fresh off a Southland Conference series sweep over Northwestern State at Sullivan Field this past weekend. The Cardinals are paced by infielder Roberto Gonzalez as he leads the team with a .357 batting average, 40 hits and 19 RBI.

UIW is set to join the Western Athletic Conference on July 1, 2022. They will be the seventh university located in Texas to join the conference.

Date & Time: 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 12

Location: Daniel Sullivan Field in San Antonio, Texas.
