ABOUT THE MATCHUP

• This is the eighth all-time meeting and the second this season, the first happening on New Year's Eve in Arlington with UTA winning 92-68. Before Dec. 31, they hadn't met since 1991. Tarleton last hosted UTA on Jan. 29, 1983, a Texans' 81-53 win. UTA leads the all-time series 6-1.
• UTA has lost three straight since beating Tarleton, just barely losing to GCU 77-75 last time out.
• UTA is eighth in the latest WAC Resume Seeding System, Tarleton 11th.
• Starr Jacobs leads the team in scoring (16.2 PPG, third in WAC) and rebounding (6.8 RPG, 11th).

• The Texans just snapped a season-long six-game losing streak with their 70-60 win over UTRGV Wednesday. It was Tarleton's longest skid since Dec. 14, 2020, through Jan. 23, 2021 (seven games).
• Tarleton is 6-1 at home this season. They started 5-0 at Wisdom Gym for the first time since 2013-14. They have the tied-second fewest home losses in the WAC this year (Utah Tech is 6-0).

• Mayra Caicedo just tied her season-high in assists at six, tied for the most by a Texan this year.
• Tarleton is 6-1 when outshooting their opponents and 1-8 when being outshot.

• Teresa Da Silva – With 21 points Wednesday, Da Silva is back in the top-five in scoring in the WAC, now fifth at 15.0 PPG. She's also ninth in assists per game (3.3). She's one of four WAC players in the top-10 in both scoring and assists (Macie Warren, Breaunna Gillen, Cherita Daugherty).
• Mayra Caicedo – Caicedo just tallied 14 points, six assists and three rebounds, moving to eighth in the WAC in assists per game at 3.8. She has back-to-back double-digit scoring games for the first time as a Texan, and it was her third 10+ point, 5+ assist game this year (first since Dec. 19).
• Elise Turrubiates – Turrubiates just recorded 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, nine rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes off the bench. It was a career-high in boards for the sophomore, and her fourth 10+ point game. She has 24 steals and 10 blocks, one of five players in the WAC with 20+ steals and 10+ blocks..

 
NUMBERS TO KNOW
11: Tarleton beat UTRGV 70-60 despite being outrebounded 41-30, a difference of 11 rebounds. It was Tarleton's first win as a D1 program when GETTING OUTREBOUNDED BY 11 OR MORE, and their first double-digit win when being outrebounded by 11+ since Dec. 19, 2018.
 
21.3: The Texans made 17-of-19 (.895) free throws to hold off any Vaqueros' late surge Wednesday. Tarleton is now at 21.3 FREE THROW ATTEMPTS PER GAME, the 31st best average in the country, fourth best in the WAC. UT Arlington leads the WAC and is ninth in the country at 23.6 free throw attempts per game.
 
5: Tarleton won the turnover battle for the ninth time on Wednesday, and is now forcing 18.9 turnovers per game, the fifth MOST TURNOVERS FORCED PER GAME in the WAC. The Texans are also fifth in the WAC in AVERAGE TURNOVER MARGIN at +1.69.
 
4: Tarleton had four PLAYERS REACH DOUBLE-DIGIT SCORING on Wednesday, the sixth time this season 4+ have scored 10+ points in the same game, and the first time since Dec. 19 at Ball State. The Texans are now 5-1 in such games.
