Women’s Soccer hosts “Soctoberfest” against Utah Valley in WAC Home Opener

    STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Soccer returns home to face the Wolverines of Utah Valley after three-straight road contests to open WAC play on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Tarleton Soccer Complex.
 
    Opening at 5 p.m., the Soccer parking lot will be transformed for an extravagant "Soctoberfest" celebration. A pair of food trucks, Speedy Spuds, Buckin' Griz BBQ will be open, Green Door Juice, and a nine-hole mini golf course. First 100 fans to enter the game with gates opening at 6 p.m. will receive a free color-changing mug giveaway dated for the event.

    The Texans were unable to overcome an early first half deficit against Abilene Christian on Sunday, falling to the Wildcats, 2-1. Avery Harr scored her 2nd goal of the season.
 
    Rylee Low's four goals in the last eight contests leads the Texans scoring attack. Tarleton State's leading goal scorer and point total (8). She ranks eighth in the WAC in total goals and in goals per game (.31). Mikayla Kendall leads the WAC with 81 and averages a league-best 6.75 saves per game. She is also second in save percentage at .802. The Orange, CA native earned her first shutout of WAC play against UTRGV collecting one save on the only shot she faced. She has two solo shutouts ranking fourth in the WAC, as well as a pair of combined shutouts with Emma Barnes this season.Mila Bettinelli ranks in the top 10 in three career statistical categories (goals, points per game, and goals per game) among active players in the WAC.
 
    Sydney Rouillard was one of 23 WAC Athletes among every sport in all 11 institutions to be named a WAC Student-Athlete Emerging Leader on Sept. 28.
 
    As a unit, Tarleton ranks in the top five in goals (18), goals per game (1.38) and shutouts (4). The Texans also rank second in fewest fouls called per game (7.23) and lead the WAC in saves per game (6.54). Avery Harr and Rylee Low remain as the only Texans to have started in all 31 games in program history. Head coach Pete Cuadrado has totaled 178 wins in his 21 seasons of coaching across North Dakota State, Wyoming and Tarleton State.
 
    The Utah Valley Wolverines won both of their games last week. The squad started with a 10-0 victory against Stephen F. Austin and closed with a 4-1 win over UTRGV.Utah Valley knocked off No. 19 USC on Sept. 7, 3-2 in Pasadena. The Wolverines also included No. 19 Clemson and No. 7 BYU in their non-WAC slate. Last season, Utah Valley got the best of the Texans in their first meeting in Orem, 6-1 on Oct. 23.
 
    The Wolverines have scored a WAC-best 37 goals this season. Attacker Faith Webber is second in the nation with 14 goals. CJ Graham has been Utah Valley's primary keeper notching 23 saves in five starts, resulting in a 0.97 GAA and totaling four wins. Chris Lemay, the 2022 WAC Coach of the Year, is entering his 7th season with Utah Valley. Lemay has led his program to five WAC Tournament championship appearances.
 
    Tarleton State will round out the week with a home contest against Seattle U at noon on Sunday at the Tarleton Soccer Complex. As always admission to the game is free and Kyle Crews will have the call on ESPN+.
