STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Due to Tarleton State men's basketball head coach
Billy Gillispie's ongoing medical circumstances, Tarleton Athletics has named
Joseph Jones acting head coach until Gillispie can return.
Jones has been leading the Texans in Gillispie's absence since Nov. 19.
"
Billy Gillispie's health is the first priority," Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lonn Reisman said. "At this time, his medical circumstances are preventing him from leading our men's basketball program, and our prayers are with him.
"Until Coach Gillispie can return, we are officially labeling
Joseph Jones as acting head coach," Reisman added. "He has done a tremendous job over these few weeks and we know he'll continue to be a great leader for our men's basketball student-athletes."
The Texans will be back on the court Thursday as they head to No. 8 Tennessee in Knoxville. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. CT at Thompson-Boling Arena.
