Texans defeat Wiley College in midweek action

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton baseball defeated the Wiley College Wildcats 8-6 on Wednesday afternoon at the Tarleton Baseball Complex.

The Texans (18-16) used eight different pitchers in the win, with Isiah Campa (W, 1-0) earning the win and Zach Poe (S, 2) picking up his second save of the season.

Brandon Howell led Tarleton offensively with four hits, four runs scored and an RBI as he launched his first home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth. He was a triple short of the cycle.

Cole Miears added two hits and two RBI while Carter Dobrinski and Jordan Andrade had the other two hits for the Texans. Dobrinski hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot to right field in the bottom of the third.

Zane Badmaev tossed 1.2 innings in relief, allowing no hits and striking out a team-high three. Campa earned the win, tossing an inning allowing a lone hit.

Tarleton trailed 1-0 as Wiley scored the first run of the game in the first inning. The Texans took a 3-1 lead in the third inning, a lead they would not give up for the remainder of the game.

Wiley plated three in the ninth inning to put a scare into the Texans, but Poe came on and induced a double play to ensure the Texans left the game with a win.
